The Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is reintroducing the $750 disaster fee payment to those who are sick from covid-19 and are missing out at work, or those who are close contacts. This payment will come back into place from this Wednesday morning, the 20th of July. As announced by the prime minister, extending this method of payment by the government would provide those in isolation with a sense of relief, as they are stuck at home for one whole week with no wage, therefore no payment. Acting Opposition Leader Sussan Ley has criticised the PM for "taking his time re-instate support payments for people struck down with Covid-19". Mr Albanese also said in his meeting that the extension of covid-19 relief disaster payments was expected to cost about $780m.
