Victoria has been hit with as they call it 'long covid', which relates to once catching covid, the symptoms last for longer than the expected 7 days, with the recovery been slow and symptoms lasting up to 3 months. The University of Tasmania researcher was part of a team that drew on a range of data to produce an estimate of the number of Australians with long COVID in the aftermath of the first Omicron wave. From the research taken, it suggested it was likely tens of thousands of people, and in worst-case scenarios more than 300,000 Australians would have deal with long COVID symptoms for at least three months this year.
